How long have you been bicycling and how did you get started?

I started biking a little during college, when I moved to San Diego I traded in my car for an electric bike. I needed a less expensive way to commute to work and pick up groceries.

What advice would you give to someone looking to get started going by bike?

It's important to look for a comfortable bike that fits you well and make sure to add baskets or saddle bags. Having storage on a bike makes it easy to drop your purse in the basket or pick up some groceries on your way home. Find a route that is low stress with as many protected bike lanes as possible.

How do protected bike lanes support your commute?

As a ceramic artist with my studio located in Liberty Station I commute everyday from Hillcrest to my studio and back. The more protected bike lanes on my commute the safer and more comfortable I feel on my commute.

Where are your favorite places to bike to in San Diego?

I love to ride to ocean beach and bird watch on my way there!

What makes San Diego a great place to bike?

San Diego is an amazing place to bike because of it's gorgeous weather. San Diego has some hills, but my electric bike helps me up them with ease.

What's the one thing you think people should know about biking?

Biking can be an amazing experience with a bike that fits you and protected bike lanes that take you anywhere you would like to go.
