The campaign objective of Imperial Valley Mariachi Academy is to harness the power of mariachi music as a dynamic tool for raising awareness of social justice while celebrating Mexican culture and the profound history of mariachi music. The vision is to organize mariachi workshops for youth, creating a platform to engage with this rich cultural tradition and explore its impact on social justice. Mariachi music is not just about melodies and rhythms; it has been a driving force behind positive social change. By incorporating these workshops, we aim to highlight its multifaceted role in pursuing social justice. These workshops will serve as a vital means of cultural preservation and identity, allowing young people to connect with the Mexican culture in the disproportionally impacted California Healthy Places Index communities of Brawley, Imperial, El Centro, and Calexico.
