Floating Photo Studios invites park-goers to fly a kite, take a picture from the skies, and contribute their image to a community aerial archive of Hilltop Community Park. On the last day of the installation, the archive will be dispersed as photo-postcards to everyone who participated. Aerial photography has historically been deployed to capture targets, conquer lands, and sort and evaluate people and the natural world. By flying kites together, the artists seek to explore how these issues connect to San Diego and to imagine different ways of seeing. Floating Photo Studios is partnering with Tech Workers Coalition and the AjA Project to broadcast counter-surveillance strategies.
