Councilmembers consider establishing the Franchise Compliance Review Committee which was a provision in the Franchise Agreement.  They will also consider a non-profit agreement between the City and the Downtown San Diego Partnership to provide homelessness prevention and shelter diversion services.

Item 30 - La Jolla United Methodist Church Nursery School Day recognizes a nursery school in District 1 that has served the community for 50 years.


Item 31 - Zachary Patterson Day  honors a man who is the first student to be elected to the San Diego Unified Board of Education holding the title of Student Board member.


Item S507 - Parent Institute for Quality Education 35th Anniversary Day  celebrates an organization which has focused for decades on engaging parents to improve education.   


Item S508 - Tiffany Burroughs Day recognizes a teacher and artistic director for the Heart Beat Music and Performing Arts Academy.

 COVID PresentationItem 330 - Elementary Institute of Science Student Presentation on Local Health and Economic Impacts of COVID-19 – High School students from the Elementary Institute of Science Student will present information on local health and economic impacts of COVID-19 based information and data they have gathered in their research and share how they've been personally impacted by the pandemic.  This is an informational item.


 


SDGE LogoItem S500 - Establishing Franchise Compliance Review Committee – In accordance with O-21327 and O-21328 granting the City’s gas and electricity distribution franchises, the Compliance Review Committee is established to provide additional franchise compliance oversight.   Every two years an independent auditor will present an audit of the Franchise compliance to the Compliance Review Committee. The Review Committee will review the audit report and develop its own report and recommendations to City Council. The Review Committee will provide a recommendation to the City Council regarding the automatic renewal of the Franchises for a second term. The Franchise Compliance Review Committee is made up of five members, two appointed by the Mayor and three appointed by City Council.  


 


Downtown Partnership logoItem S501 - Non-Profit Agreement with Downtown San Diego Partnership for the Family Reunification Program – This item would authorize a non-profit agreement with Downtown San Diego Partnership for the operating period of July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023 to provide homelessness prevention and shelter diversion services to persons experiencing homelessness in the City of San Diego.  The agreement consists of $500,000 in Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention Round 3 grant funds and $450,000 in General Funds, for a total of $950,000.
