Item S503 – El Niño Preparations and 2026 Annual Stormwater Department Update

This is an informational update to discuss Citywide preparations and public communications in advance of the predicted very strong El Niño event. The Office of Emergency Services will review current predictions for El Niño, discuss ongoing multi-department coordination efforts and work products, and highlight the City’s public communications strategy. 

The Stormwater Department will provide its annual update, including FY 2026 accomplishments associated with maintaining and upgrading the storm drain system, as well as an overview of maintenance priorities, schedules, and system conditions in FY 2027.
