The People's Business - June 27, 2021

This late edition of the People’s Business is brought to you by the COVID-19 Recovery and Response Committee.  Co-chair and Council President Jennifer Campbell will lead the meeting on Monday which will provide an update on COVID Cases and Updates.  Committee members will also hear about mental health issues, challenges for businesses and efforts to get San Diegans back to work.

COVID-19 Recovery and Response Committee Meeting – June 28, 2021, 9 a.m.

All items on the agenda are informational and require no vote.

 

Item 1 – County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency COVID-19 Pandemic Vaccine and Case Rate Update – Dr. Jennifer Tuteur with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency will provide an update on the COVID-19 Pandemic vaccine and case rates in the county and provide any new details on variants.

 

Item 2 - Mental Health and COVID-19 Beyond the Pandemic Presented by Sharp Healthcare - Dr. Dara Bliss Schwartz, Psychologist and Program Development Specialist with Sharp Healthcare, will present data on the mental health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the workforce.

 

Item 3 – Update on City’s COVID-19 Efforts - This informational report will include updates on the following COVID-19 related items:

• Final report on the City of San Diego’s vaccination efforts

• Small business resiliency measures in FY 22 budget

• Other Small business relief measures

• Eviction protections

• COVID-19 Housing Stability Assistance Program

 

Item 4 – COVID-19 Workplace Outreach Program and Economic Recovery Presented by San Diego Workforce Partnership - The San Diego Workforce Partnership will present on employee and employer resources for business who are open or are preparing to open and economic recovery.

 

Item 5 – San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Presentation on San Diego’s Business Community Priority Areas - The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce will present the leading concerns for the City’s business community as they continue to recover from COVID-19 and its impacts. Vice President, Public Affairs Stefanie Benvenuto and Policy Coordinator Summer Bales will present challenges in returning to work for some of the workforce, issues with navigating fluid regulatory environments, the disproportionate impacts across industries, and considerations for longer-term solutions.
