Amazingly, November is here and there are precious few weeks before the end of the year. On

Tuesday, Councilmembers consider a proposal to use inclusive language in San Diego’s Municipal Code and Council Policies.  They will also consider extending the contracts with mapping, photography, land and aerial surveying companies.

Eight items fill the consent agenda including those pertaining to Tailgate Park, a joint use facility and allowing continued use of teleconferencing at public meetings.

Ceremonial Proclamations will honor Stella Maris Academy which is celebrating 75 years of commitment to education.  The Council will also consider Andrew White Day, celebrating a City employee who has served the residents of San Diego for 30 years.

 

On to the Discussion Agenda...

 

Item 330 – Proposed Amendments to Chapter 1, Article 1, Division 2 of the San Diego Municipal Code and Council Policies 000-01, 000-07, and 000-21 to Promote Inclusive Language - Inclusive language is defined as “language that avoids the use of certain expressions or words that might be considered to exclude particular groups of people, especially gender specific words”.  The Offices of Councilmember Campillo and Council President Campbell are recommending that City Council adopt the following subitems:

  • Subitem A: Introduction of an ordinance amending Chapter 1, Article 1, Division 2 of the San Diego Municipal Code to require future Municipal Code amendments be drafted with inclusive language.

 

  • Subitem B: Adopt a resolution amending Council Policy 000-01, Council Policy 000-07, and Council Policy 000-21 to require that future amendments to Council Policies, regulatory legislation, and ballot proposals for City Charter amendments be drafted with inclusive language.

 

Item 331 – Annual Presentation of the City Treasurer’s Investment Policy and Delegation of Authority to the City Treasurer to Invest Funds – Pursuant to California Government Code §53607 and §53646, the City Treasurer must annually request delegation of authority to invest or reinvest the City's funds and present the City Treasurer's Investment Policy to City Council.

 

prismItem 332 – Second Amendment to Each of the Six Individual Agreements for As-Needed Land Surveying, Aerial Surveying, Photography, Mapping and Digitizing Services (H197042-H197047) in Support of the City's CIP – This action authorizes a Second Amendment to each of the six individual Agreements below, for As-Needed Land Surveying, Aerial Surveying, Photography, Mapping and Digitizing Services. Each amendment is requesting an additional two years and $2,000,000 to their respective agreements. Upon award of these amendments, each as-needed agreement will have a total duration of four years from the date of each agreement’s award date and a total amount not to exceed $4,000,000.

Public Facilities Financing Authority Agenda

Water genericItem FA-1 – Authorization of Certain Legal Documents in Connection with the Public Facilities Financing Authority – This item will authorize the Public Facilities Financing Authority to extend the Water Revenue Commercial Paper Program.   It would approve an Offering Memorandum to finance additional capital improvements to the water system in an amount not to exceed $250,000,000 and other administrative details.
