Just as you might upgrade your home internet to handle evolving demand, the City of San Diego is doing the same.  The City’s I.T. Department is seeking approval of contracts with a variety of network and communications companies.  The City Council will also consider modifications to the Airport Land Use Compatibility Overlay Zone.

City Council Meeting – October 4, 2021 – 2 p.m. 


Councilmembers will address two items on the Monday afternoon agenda.

Item 200 – Approval of CALNET Next Generation Cooperative Procurement Contracts for Data Networks and Communications Service known as “CALNET Next Generation” or “CALNET NextGen” – This item seeks approval of an ordinance to ensure continuity of the City’s day-to-day information technology service.   It authorizes contracts between the City and AT&T, Charter Communications, Crown Castle Fiber, Granite Telecommunications among others.  The Contracts will provide internet connectivity and telecommunication services for the entire City workforce and all Department activities, including some incoming 911 services.


 


 


Airport MapItem 201 - Technical Modifications to the Airport Land Use Compatibility Overlay Zone Supplemental Development Regulations - The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority acts as the Airport Land Use Commission for San Diego County and is required by state law to adopt Airport Land Use Compatibility Plans for each public use and military airport.


On January 12, 2021, the City Council approved the code amendments to the Airport Land Use Compatability Overlay Zone.  In April of this year, the Airport Land Use Commission identified technical modifications to the amendments including noise attenuation requirements, use limitations by noise contours and intensity limitations.  The action for this hearing is only for the recommended technical modifications.
