F Street Emergency Water Main Replacement Project
The City of San Diego is working to replace deteriorated water infrastructure along F Street, between 17th Street and Park Boulevard. This project will help bring the existing water delivery system up to current standards, improve system reliability and reduce maintenance requirements

To facilitate construction, traffic detours and parking restrictions will be in place along F Street. The impacts may change as construction progresses. Background
In February 2013, a 16-inch diameter cast iron main located at 10th and F Streets ruptured causing significant flooding and property damage. The deteriorated pipeline is more than 102 years old, and has reached the end of its useful service life.
This project will:
- Replace approximately 1,600 linear feet of cast iron water main along F Street and 20 water connections
- Install curb ramps and resurface streets
Construction Schedule & Normal Work Hours
The actual date of completion for this project is undetermined at this time due to unforeseen conditions below ground. Normal construction hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Cost
The project planning, design, and construction budget is $1 million.
