Soledad Pump Station Upgrade
The Soledad Pump Station (SPS) was built in 1978 and is located at 6751 La Jolla ScenicDrive in La Jolla, an unincorporated community within the City of San Diego. SPS is theprimary pump station within the Citys Soledad 925 Pressure Zone and was originally designed to have a 3,000 gallon per minute capacity and included three vertical turbinepumps with variable frequency drives housed inside a concrete block building adjacent tothe Soledad Reservoir. The SPS currently has two of its three pumps operational andtheir capacity has decreased over the years causing increased electrical costs, and it cannot meet current water demands.
The pump station will be a completely new station housing four vertical turbine pumps, valves, piping appurtenances, controls and electrical systems in a new CMU building. The proposed facilities will include:
- A new pump station;
- Upgrades to the reservoir;
- New site piping;
- New altitude valve and appurtenances;
- A widened access road and driveway;
- Security upgrades; And
- Landscape and irrigation replacement.
For this project, all efforts will be taken to minimize impacts to the residents and businesses in the community. The impacts may change as construction progresses. To help keep the community informed about the anticipated construction activities and impacts for both projects, updates will be emailed to subscribers as significant events occur.
