Olga Golub
Chief Investigator
Olga Golub serves as the Chief Investigator at the Office of the Commission on Police Practices (OCPP), where she is responsible for establishing the foundation for the Commission’s independent investigations and managing the day-to-day operations of the Investigations Team. She also coordinates the Commission’s review of the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) Internal Affairs investigations into citizen complaints, including the evaluation of proposed disciplinary actions stemming from sustained findings.
Before joining OCPP in 2023, Ms. Golub developed deep expertise in civilian oversight at the New York Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB), the nation’s largest civilian oversight agency over New York City Police Department (NYPD). Over nearly seven years at the CCRB, Ms. Golub advanced from Investigator to Investigative Manager, leading a team of investigators and overseeing hundreds of complex cases. Her work involved investigating allegations of force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, offensive language, untruthful statements, and sexual misconduct against uniformed NYPD officers. She handled high-profile and sensitive cases, including officer-involved shootings, serious use-of-force incidents, large-scale police operations, and matters that drew national media attention or arose from mass protests. This experience allowed her to understand the nuances of the community-police relationship in the nation’s largest city and obtain extensive knowledge of police practices.
In addition to her oversight work, Ms. Golub has investigated harassment and discrimination based on protected categories at a major California university and consulted for an international organization focused on combating transnational organized crime.
Committed to continuous professional development, Ms. Golub regularly participates in trainings and webinars focused on civilian oversight and law enforcement practices. She stays current with national best practices by attending seminars and annual conferences hosted by the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE), where she is recognized as a Certified Practitioner of Oversight.
Ms. Golub holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Studies from the City College of New York at the City University of New York.
