Gloria Tran

Gloria Tran is a decades-long community volunteer who is passionate about giving a voice to communities and individuals who may feel they do not have one. Having chaired many committees, she knows how to work collaboratively and productively with elected officials, public agencies, and residents from all over San Diego. Ms. Tran served on The San Diego Union-Tribune Community Advisory Board and has been honored for her volunteer work, including being named Woman of the Year for the 77th Assembly District.
Ms. Tran currently works for Poway Unified School District, and her department addresses Restorative Practices and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. In addition, as an Arab-American with firsthand knowledge of growing up in a different culture, she was chosen as a member of the Poway Unified Equity Advisory Committee.
While raising two sons, Ms. Tran edited a community newspaper and was heavily involved in local issues. Prior to raising her family, she worked as a television news producer and executive producer, earning two Emmy Awards. Utilizing the impartiality ingrained in her during her journalism career, Ms. Tran looks forward to objectively addressing all sides of a debate.
