Special Event Parking Regulations

General Rules

Parking meters within walking distance (0.5 miles) of Petco Park will be subject to Special Event rates during major stadium events beginning Sept. 1, 2025. During special event hours, meters are priced at $10/hour. These regulations help make more parking spots available and reduce congestion by discouraging drivers from circling for free or cheap parking near the stadium.

Current Schedule

The Special Event parking rates will begin about two hours before scheduled Padres games and Petco Park events with over 10,000 attendees. Those rates will remain in effect until four hours following the event’s start time. For example, if a concert begins at 7 p.m., the Special Event parking rates will be in effect from approximately 5 p.m. through 11 p.m.

Events

Events subject to Special Event pricing include all major events at Petco Park where over 10,000 people are expected to attend. These events – including Padres home games and large concerts – generate significant traffic around the stadium.

Time Limits

Meters will have six-hour time limits during Special Events. Drivers should be sure to check the meter for time limits.

How to Avoid a Parking Ticket

Meters in the Special Event area may charge for parking later in the evening than most other parts of the city. If you do not pay the meter, or if you stay for longer than you paid, you may get a ticket, just like any other meter. Street signs (shown below) indicate meters on the block are subject to Special Event rates and parking enforcement at night.

If you have a Disabled Person parking placard, you are allowed to park for free at metered spaces, including during Special Events.
