(PDT) Theme: TBA The commemoration will be again hosted by former New Anchor, Marc Bailey. We will have musical performances, a wreath laying, and a missing-man flyby. Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial is one of the most unique veterans' memorials in the Nation and stands high on La Jolla's, Mt. Soledad, offering panoramic views of San Diego County. It is the only memorial that honors veterans, living or deceased, from the Revolutionary War to the current war on terrorism, with an image of the veteran. Close to 6,000 individual veteran tributes, embedded on black granite plaques, are mounted onto the curved walls honoring our United States veterans. Mt. The walk route will begin on the walk path west of Preble Field, headed south, turning right on the walk path along the water. The route will turn around at the USS Recruit and continue back towards NTC Park, turning left at Farragut Road. The route will cut through the park on walking paths and exit at Womble Road heading north west. Walkers will turn right on Historic Decatur Road and continue until the road ends at the walking path. Walkers will turn right on the path to continue back to NTC Park. Walkers will remain on walking paths or sidewalks for the entirety, with course marshals closely monitoring safe crossing at all intersections. We do not intend to close any streets.

Tuesday, November 28, 2023, 10am - 12pm Piazza Costanza Dedication Ceremony The Little Italy Association is honored to add the legacy of Margaret "Midge" Costanza to our remarkable public spaces. The Piazza Costanza will sit on the corner of Columbia and W. Ash Streets directly outside the Luma apartments. Midge was a social and political activist who served as a top advisor to President Jimmy Carter. Known for her wit, outspoken manner and commitment to her convictions, she fought for the rights and dignity of all people, particularly women, the LGBTQ community, and other marginalized groups. The daughter of Sicilian immigrants Midge Costanza became the first City councilwoman in Rochester, New York in 1973. She later rose to become the first female Assistant to a U.S. President. Midge moved to San Diego in the 1980s where she was active in numerous organizations and issues. She had the rare ability to bring together people with different viewpoints to accomplish a shared civic goal. On November 28th at 10am, the Little Italy Association and the Piazza Costanza Committee invite San Diegans and visitors to join in on the celebration and unveiling of the new Piazza and bust of Midge Costanza.

Sunday, December 3, 2023, 11am - 2pm 8th Annual Unleash the Holiday Cheer San Diego's most charitable, pet-friendly Pet and military Appreciation event of the year (and voted as one of San Diego's Favorite Events 2020), "Unleash the Holiday Cheer," presented by the McBeth Foundation! This year, we partnered with San Diego Humane Society, who will bring adoptable pets to our event for all to foster or adopt! As always, Traci's Paws will sponsor pet adoption fees for military and veterans and their families if they are approved for an adoption! Please read to the bottom for our COVID-19 waiver and ticketing information! Santa photos for you, your kids, pets, AND gifts from Santa! Holiday Vendor Village for Holiday Shopping with Military discounts, Entertainment, Fun Take-Home craft activities for Kids and adults, and MORE. 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM Pet Parade AND Pet Costume Contest with Prizes! Gifts for Military and Veterans and each dependent with ID in attendance! MORE TO BE ANNOUNCED!!! ALL FRIENDLY PETS ARE WELCOME! For everyone's safety and to have the best time, please see the following: No retractable leashes, please. It would be best if you cleaned up after your pets. If pets get unruly and aggressive, we will ask you to leave. Since the event's inception in 2016, we have raised over $550,000 for the military, veterans, and their families with gifts and sponsored adoption fees for homeless pets at various rescue organizations! Like all Traci's Paws events, we will practice all safety precautions as the CDC and San Diego County requested. Please respect our COVID-Safe Rules. Masks are not required for fully vaccinated individuals outdoors but are highly recommended. Please respect our guests and volunteers and plan on not attending if you are sick or have been sick within 14 days of the event date, you experience symptoms such as a fever of 100.4F/38C, cough, sore throat, or loss of taste/smell or have come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID19. Details: NTC Park Space I is a smaller park area of the NTC Parks that spans across the edge of Liberty Station. Space I, requested for another consecutive year, is closest to the parking lot and public restrooms where Cushing Rd. and Dewey Rd. meet. It has been the most enjoyable location for the Unleash the Holiday Cheer event for four previous years; this will be the fifth (although we had the event in Liberty Station twice at other locations and off-property for a drive-thru once).

Taste chili made by 25+ local San Diego restaurants, listen to live music, enjoy local brews in the Beer Garden, bring the kids for fun in the Kids Zone, get your holiday shopping started and buy gifts from local handmade vendors, enjoy great food from food trucks, and more! 100% of the proceeds from this volunteer-operated event go to the kids at McKinley Elementary School!
