59th Tom Bache Balboa 4 Mile XC Race
A challenging cross country race on trails, grass and sidewalks of Balboa Park that has been running for over 56 years. The start and finish are located just north of 6th Ave and Laurel St in Balboa Park. This historic 4-mile cross country race is part of the Dirt Dog Cross series and hosted by SDTC.

La Jolla Cove Swim
The La Jolla Cove Swim is one of the oldest open water swims in the United States. 2024 will mark 108 years since the first race was held. There are three events. 250M "Garibaldi Groms Swim, 1 Mile "Sea Lion" Swim and 3 Mile "Leopard Shark" Swim. It has been run almost exclusively by volunteers and community members. The La Jolla Cove Swim is a non-profit event and is operated under The Kiwanis Club of La Jolla, a 501(c)3 organization. Net proceeds from this annual swim, which takes place the first Sunday after Labor Day, will be donated to the Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego.

Binational Race
The Binational Race San Diego Tijuana offers a unique opportunity to traverse the half marathon route shared between San Diego and Tijuana
The half marathon begins its route at Las Americas in San Ysidro, proceeding along Camino de la Plaza avenue until reaching Dairy Mart Rd. At kilometer 5, participants will enjoy the natural reserves of Tijuana River Valley Park. At kilometer 10, they will experience crossing the border through the San Ysidro El Chaparral international checkpoint.
Join over 4,000 participants running through the Border (Far Right Lane) on Freeway 5 to enter Mexico through the worlds busiest border crossing.
Following this historic crossing, participants will continue along the international route. This significant effort will be rewarded with panoramic views of San Diego and a fast 5km descent until reaching the finish line at the Monumental Bullring in Playas de Tijuana.
The Binational Race 2024 is part of a regional movement promoting cultural, social, academic, sports, political, and family exchanges between San Diego and Tijuana.

Beach Bocce World Championship
The popular annual championship typically attracts a sold-out crowd of about 400-450 two person teams. The event typically raises just north of $75,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, with the events 42-year total fundraising over $2 million.
Highlighted by colorful costumes, intense competition, and a lot of laughter, the day is a fun one consisting of sand, sun, and lots of bocce action. Round robin competition takes place in the morning, with the top two team son each court advancing to single elimination play until a winner is crowned in each of four divisions.
