Spring Tide
Spring Tide: A Mini Pop-Up Festival
Spring Tide: A Mini Pop-Up Festival is a time-based work of art that takes the form of a day-long community art event. This project takes place in Southcrest Recreation Center and invites San Diego park-goers to spend time in a regionally separate area of Council District 9. The 94 freeway acts to divide the neighborhood, and activities that often happen in other parts of the district are not attended by folks south of the freeway and vice versa. This event will energize the park and reclaim it for the community. Spring Tide will leverage the folk traditions of storytelling, puppetry, musical performance, and contemporary community engagement ideas in meaningful art exchanges that highlight the healing of generosity and sustainable environmental practices. Community partners and volunteers will offer services to the community and support the overall narrative of the art event with fun workshops and art activities.
