Mayor Jerry Sanders, Councilmember Sherri Lightner and La Jolla residents celebrated the groundbreaking of the Kellogg Park Green Lot Infiltration Project today. This project will remove 18,000 square feet of asphalt in the existing parking lot and replace it with permeable pavers. These pavers will treat storm water and urban runoff to prevent pollutants from entering the Areas of Special Biological Significance. The project will reduce the volume of storm water and water-borne pollutants that could potentially reach the adjacent beach, install new landscaping features and trash enclosures, install a new parking lot surface, curb ramps for improved accessibility and improved drainage near current storm drain inlets.
