Capital Improvements Program (CIP)

Sorrento Mesa Recycled Water Pipeline Project

Project Overview

The Sorrento Mesa Recycled Water Pipeline project will install approximately 1.25 miles of 8-inch polyvinyl chloride (PVC) water pipeline in the Sorrento Mesa community of San Diego City Council District Six. Construction will take place on segments of Morehouse Dr., Lusk Blvd., Barnes Canyon Rd., Pacific Heights Blvd., Pacific Center Dr. and McKellar Court. View a map of the project footprint.

The new recycled water pipeline system will help users conserve water by providing recycled water for irrigation and water-cooling uses.

The project will also:

  • Install laterals to connect properties to the new recycled water pipeline;
  • Use best management practices (BMPs) for erosion control, storm drain inlet protection and restoration of disturbed areas to their original condition;
  • Resurface streets impacted by its construction activities; and
  • Install new curb ramps that will improve mobility access for people with physical disabilities.
