Volunteer Opportunity — Creek to Bay Community Clean-Up @ Mission Valley Preserve
Join us for the Creek to Bay Community Clean-Up and help support a cleaner, healthier river while working alongside a passionate group of community volunteers. This hands-on cleanup event helps protect local wildlife habitats, improve public spaces, and prevent pollution from reaching our beaches and ocean.
Saturday, April 25, 2026
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Arrive by 8:45 AM for check-in)
Mission Valley YMCA – West Parking Lot
5505 Friars Rd, San Diego, CA 92110
(Meet in western-most parking lot near YMCA pool; overflow parking available along Friars Rd.)
Volunteer Activities May Include:
- Riverbed and trail cleanup
- Litter and debris removal
- Light trail blazing and habitat restoration
- General environmental stewardship projects
Each year, volunteers with the San Diego River Park Foundation remove over 200,000 pounds of trash from the river — helping protect wildlife, improve parks, and prevent pollution from reaching our ocean.
This event is held in partnership with I Love A Clean San Diego for the Annual Earth Day Creek to Bay Cleanup.
Volunteer Information
- Ages 16 and older
- Long pants required; long sleeves recommended
- Closed-toe sturdy shoes required
- Bring a reusable water bottle and sun protection
- Tools and supplies provided
- Community service hours available
- No pets allowed
- Light rain will not cancel the event
- No public restrooms available — plan accordingly
