Come out and join us at Memorial Recreation Center for a community clean-up and beautification event!

We are working on projects that will help enhance Memorial Recreation Center and surrounding park areas, creating a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming space for youth, families, and community members. Your participation helps support an important neighborhood gathering place and strengthens community pride.

History of Memorial Recreation Center

Memorial Recreation Center has long served the surrounding community as a neighborhood hub for recreation, youth programs, and community events. Located in southeastern San Diego, the center provides access to sports fields, playgrounds, community programming, and outdoor gathering spaces. Over the years, Memorial Recreation Center has become an important resource for families, offering opportunities for recreation, community engagement, and neighborhood connection.

Duties Include

  • Park and facility beautification
  • Trash pick-up
  • Light landscaping and planting
  • Weed and brush removal
  • Playground and outdoor area clean-up
  • General maintenance support and more

Please Note

  • You are required to wear your volunteer staff shirt or yellow vest during your shift
  • Closed-toe shoes and appropriate, comfortable clothing required
  • Recommend bringing a water bottle, hat, and sunscreen (event held outdoors)
  • Check-in is required prior to starting your duty
