Mary Abad

photo of Mary AbadMary Abad has spent almost 18 years in banking and international development working for leading global banks and multilaterals. In that time, she has completed transactions in over 20 countries. Currently, she is a Relationship Manager serving middle market companies and non-profits based in San Diego with BBVA, a banking group with a presence in 30+ countries. Prior to BBVA she was an Investment Officer for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), leading private sector investments and providing post-funding support for projects across developing Asia aimed at fighting poverty. She has also worked for GE Capital executing leveraged finance investments for private equity clients, and for Citigroup corporate and investment banking in New York and San Francisco. Ms. Abad began her career serving as a microfinance Peace Corps Volunteer in South America. She has degrees from Stanford, Columbia Business School and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. After living and working in different places around the world, Ms. Abad is happy to call San Diego home with her husband and daughter. She is honored to be on the IAB and enjoys supporting its work in immigration and economic competitiveness.
