Police
In response to the growing demand for a safe and convenient way to dispose of household prescription medications, the San Diego Police Department has installed a drop-box at seven of its locations listed below.
The Safe Prescription Drug Drop-Off Program is available to all residents to drop off unused or expired prescriptions - no questions asked.
Police officers will check the boxes daily, collect the contents and prepare for disposal that is eco-friendly and in accordance with Federal and State laws.
This program helps protect the environment and deter the use of prescription drugs by unintended persons.
All needles and sharps should be placed into a rigid, puncture-resistant container 1 gallon or less in size with a tight-fitting lid. Do not use milk jugs, glass containers, cardboard boxes, paper or plastic bags, or CRV containers.
