Duties & Functions

The Youth Commission’s responsibilities include:

  • Identifying critical issues affecting youth in the City of San Diego.
  • Providing advice and recommendations to the Mayor, City Council, City Manager and other City officials on issues affecting youth in the City of San Diego.
  • Meeting no less than four (4) times per year.
  • Forming subcommittees of less than a majority of its members as deemed necessary to allow for an in-depth review of issues of interest to the Commission.
  • Presenting findings, recommendations and periodic reports to the Mayor and City Council.
