Children and Youth Investments Fiscal Mapping

Little girl doing class workA project in the works. The Office of Child and Youth Success is developing a fiscal map of the City investment in Children, Youth, and Families. This work will determine the funding landscape to ensure goals and resources are aligned with priorities that support San Diego’s youngest community. This fiscal map will consider the following areas:

  • Eligible Services and Programs
  • Eligible Populations
  • Intended Outcomes
  • Administrative Funding Characteristics

The data captured in this analysis will categorize major expenditures, revenues, and some miscellaneous sources of contributions categorized into outcomes that intend to support children, youth, and family programs. The Goals of Fiscal Mapping are:

  • Understand the community’s current investments
  • Align goals and resources across partners and agencies
  • Coordinate support and services
  • Maximize funding opportunities
  • Identify new areas of attention (gaps in funds), efficiency (overlap of funds), and innovation (potential ways to generate new funds)
  • Improve cross-sector collaboration in seeking and using resources
