2026 Election Information

June 2, 2026 Municipal Primary Election

The nomination period for the June 2, 2026 Municipal Primary Election will open on February 4, 2026 and close on March 5, 2026. 

The City of San Diego’s next regularly scheduled election will be consolidated with the 2026 California Primary election. The 2026 elections will be to elect qualified candidates to the following offices:

  • Council District 2
  • Council District 4
  • Council District 6
  • Council District 8

The last day to register to vote for the June 2, 2026 primary election is May 18, 2026. To check your voter registration status, please visit https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/. To register to vote online, please visit https://registertovote.ca.gov/

Examination Period of Election Materials

The courtesy examination period for the ordinances calling any regularly scheduled election commences the next calendar day after Council adopts the ordinance calling that election and ends ten calendar days thereafter.
