Wooden African Ashanti stool, 22 inches wide x 13 inches tall. This is a ceremonial stool owned by village chiefs and kings in the Ashanti region of Ghana, which conveys status, power and succession. They are carved from a single block of wood with ornate designs, inlays, and carvings, and have both practical and spiritual uses. This was donated by West Africa Mayor Nahr from Tema, Ghana, a San Diego Sister City.
