Wooden plaque, 10-inch square, with a white 6-inch tile inset in the middle. The tile has the insignia of the USS Hopeful - Offense, Defense. The USS Hopewell was a Fletcher-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War II. She was commissioned in 1943 and named in honor of the first Hopewell (DD-181) which was named for Pollard Hopewell, a midshipman in the United States Navy during the War of 1812. Donor's name and occasion information were not provided to the City Clerk's office.
