Memorial to Fray (Father) Junipero Serra (1713-1784), who led the founding of the Mission of San Diego in 1769. First shown during the Panama-California Exposition of 1915, the memorial is located in the courtyard of the Casa del Prado, which was then called the Varied Industries and Food Products Building, and later the Foreign and Domestic Industries Building, the Food and Beverage Building, and the County Fair Building before its demolition and reconstruction in 1971.
