It was designed by New York architect Bertram Goodhue's assistant, Carleton M. Winslow, Sr., and San Diego draftsman, Harry K. Vaughn. The building later housed the San Diego Museum of Man. Architects with Soltek of San Diego renovated it in 1988-1990.
