Franklin Mitchell and Maureen Connolly, Ink Tennis Players

Three 1951 Ink Tennis Tournament Players - left to right: Unknown, Franklin Mitchell and Maureen Connolly, known as 'Little Mo', who went on to win nine Grand Slam singles titles in the early 1950s. In 1953, she became the first woman to win all four Grand Slam tournaments during the same year. In 1935 Harper Ink started the Harper Ink Memorial Tennis Tournament to support and assist young tennis players. Ink's contribution to San Diego renews every year with the Ink Tournament, now played at the Barnes Tennis Center.
