La Jolla Fire Station No. 13 opened in 1913 at 7877 Herschel Avenue. The Works Progress Administration (WPA) constructed this building in 1937 to replace the older station. The Fire Department moved from Herschel Avenue to a new location on Nautilus Avenue in 1976, and this is now the site of the La Jolla YMCA Firehouse Community Center, offering recreational activities and community services.
