Lake Hodges Dam in 1928, a multiple-arch dam that sits on the San Dieguito River, located 31 miles north of San Diego and just south of Escondido. It was commissioned by the Volcan Water Company and designed by John S. Eastwood. It was completed in 1918, and purchased by the City of San Diego in 1925. The reservoir serves the San Dieguito Water District and Santa Fe Irrigation District as well as the City. When full, the reservoir has 1,234 surface acres, a maximum water depth of 115 feet and 27 shoreline miles.
