Members of the Order of Elks breaking ground on the northwest corner of Second and D (now Broadway) for their new building in 1906. Established on June 8, 1890, in Horton's Hall with 30 charter members, the San Diego Lodge is part of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America, one of the oldest and largest fraternal organizations in the country.
