1967 photo of San Diego Stadium under construction in Mission Valley. Architects were Frank L. Hope and Associates; the General Contractors were Robertson/Larsen/Donovan. Groundbreaking was in December 1965 and it opened in August 1967. The stadium was renamed after local sportscaster Jack Murphy in 1980, and became Qualcomm Stadium in 1997 after the corporation paid $18 million for the naming rights.
