A Scottish Guard, Andy Williams and Mayor Curran at Torrey Pines Golf Course in 1967, before Andy took over as host of the San Diego Open. The modern game of golf is generally considered to be a Scottish invention. The first documented mention of golf in Scotland appears in a 1457 Act of the Scottish Parliament. Andy took over as host of the Andy Williams San Diego Open in February 1968 and continued to 1988. Also in 1968, the tournament location moved from Mission Valley to Torrey Pines.
