1967 photo of the USS Constellation (CV-64) in San Diego Bay. Commissioned in 1961, it was the second ship in the Kitty Hawk class and the third ship in the Navy to bear the name in honor of the 'new constellation of stars' on the flag. Nicknamed 'America's Flagship', it was decommissioned on August 7, 2003, after 41 years, nine months and 11 days of naval service. On August 8, 2014, it left Bremerton, Washington under tow for Brownsville, Texas, arrived there in mid-January 2015, and was subsequently broken up for scrap.
