On Sunday, March 8, 2026, celebrate International Women's Day by joining the 1619 National Celebration of Black Women's community Celebration in the Encanto Black Arts Culture District of San Diego.
Honoring the legacy of District 4 Civic Leader, Marie C. Widman, as well as the more than 400-year history of Black women and girls contributions to the United States since 1619, the 1619NCBW park celebration will include entertainment, vendors, and more.

Location: The Black Women Empowerment March is approximately, .6 miles, and will conclude at Marie C. Widman Neighborhood Park with entertainment, vendors, and more. March 2, 2019, marked our first event honoring the legacy of black women, commemorating 400 years since the first African captives arrived to the shore of Jamestown, Virginia. This historical event in San Diego, took place downtown with the support of The Port of San Diego.
