Communication Listening Session Guidelines

1. We don’t have to agree with each other; we are listening to understand each other
2. No interruptions; allow each other to finish their statements
3. We will make space for different people to share their views
4. We want to hear as many voices as possible, No speeches
5. Be respectful of different viewpoints and experiences
6. As an HRC, we are here to listen. We will then take that information and work
   together to develop solutions and recommendations that work to address the
   concerns you share.

Questions to Guide Our Conversation

1. Tell us a little about your experience living in this community. What do you enjoy?
2. What makes daily life for you or others in the community hard, right now?
3. Have you been or have you seen people in the community being treated unfairly? If so, what happened?
4. What's the biggest challenge facing your family right now? Facing the community?
5. When something goes wrong, who do you turn to for help?
6. What does the community already do to take care of each other?
7. If you were in charge, what's the first thing you would change?
8. What programs or services are missing in your community?
9. Have you seen hate or discrimination in your community? What happened?
10. If you could tell the Mayor and City Council one thing they don't understand about
    this community's experience, what would it be?
