Jessie Schmitte
District 8 Representative
Jessie Schmitte currently serves as the State Policy Manager for Alliance San Diego and as a Commissioner for the City of San Diego’s Commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention District 8 Early Life & Education.
Schmitte initially planned to pursue a career in law enforcement. However, experiencing the civil unrest and social injustices amplified during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic prompted him to pivot his career path toward systemic reform and public policy.
He attended Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) through its Accelerated Undergraduate program, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. During his time at PLNU, he was heavily mentored by civil rights attorney and professor Geneviéve Jones-Wright, who helped shape his trajectory toward community advocacy and legislative reform.
