Structural Engineering Senior
The Structural Engineering Senior oversees and supervises professional engineers engaged in the structural design and plan checking of public buildings, bridges, and other structures. Responsibilities include planning and directing the work of engineering staff, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and building codes, conducting structural plan checks for building permits, and assessing structural damage and earthquake effects on city facilities. Minimum qualifications include registration as a professional Civil or Structural Engineer in California, four years of professional experience in structural engineering or plan checking (including one year at a journey-level equivalent to a Structural Engineering Associate with the City of San Diego), and a valid International Code Council (ICC) Certificate as a Building Plans Examiner within two years of hire. A valid California Class C Driver’s License is also required.
