Valerie Attisha
Valerie Attisha, born in Detroit and raised in San Diego, serves as the Chief Development Officer for Voices for Children, a nonprofit organization that provides advocacy to children in the foster care system in San Diego County. In this role, she oversees a dynamic team and leads efforts to grow Voices for Children as well as expand and diversify its funding from individual donors, special events as well as foundation, corporate and government grants.
Ms. Attisha began her nonprofit career at The San Diego Foundation where she established and directed the Community Scholarship Program and San Diego Teachers’ Fund. Prior to coming to Voices, Ms. Attisha served as the Director of Development in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of San Diego.
Ms. Attisha is an alumna of the University of San Diego (BA, English and Political Science) and California State University, Sacramento (MA, Government). Also, Ms. Attisha is a graduate of LEAD San Diego and Public Leadership Institute (PLI). She is active in the community having previously served on the boards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and El Cajon Rotary Club. Currently, she is a member of the Junior League of San Diego, San Diego Symphony Notables, and St. Germaine’s Children’s Charity. Additionally, she serves on the City of San Diego International Affairs Board, USD National Alumni Board of Directors and the College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board.
