SAN DIEGO Furthering his commitment to building a high-quality workforce that is responsive to the needs of San Diegans, Mayor Gloria announced that the City has reached two-year agreements with the San Diego Firefighters Association, Teamsters 911 (representing City lifeguards) and the San Diego Police Officers Association, meaning the City now has approved pacts with all six unions representing City employees.

Additionally, the City has reached agreements on special salary adjustments with the Municipal Employees Association (MEA) and AFSCME Local 127 that will help the City better address critical services.

The agreements we have reached with our city employees along with the restoration of pensions for all City workers reflect my commitment to building the best possible workforce for the people of this city, said Mayor Todd Gloria. The agreements will help ensure the City of San Diego is a competitive and attractive employer, which in turn means we have sufficient staffing to deliver the emergency response times and higher service levels San Diegans expect and deserve.

The City Council will vote on the contracts on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.
