The creation of an equitable public engagement plan was identified as an implementation action within the Parks Master Plan and Climate Resilient SD Plans adopted by City Council in 2021. Coordinating closely with other City Departments, the City Planning Department will create an Equitable Public Engagement strategy to assure equitable public engagement and inclusive community participation on planning initiatives, particularly in communities that have historically experienced barriers to public participation. The equitable engagement strategy will serve as the foundation for a meaningful and equitable public engagement program to ensure that the Department’s plans are inclusive, representative of the population’s demographics and ultimately deliver policies that improve the quality of the lives of the people in our city.
