Police Detective performs detailed investigations of crimes, conducts surveillance, interviews suspects and witnesses, prepares cases for prosecution, operates undercover, and provides expert testimony in court. Minimum qualifications include successful completion of 60 semester units from an accredited college or a California Intermediate P.O.S.T. Certificate, and four years of full-time experience as a sworn peace officer, with two years as a City of San Diego Police Officer II or III.
