Under immediate supervision, a Police Recruit attends the Police Academy in preparation for a professional law enforcement career, participating in classroom lectures, physical conditioning, self-defense exercises, and firearms practice. Minimum qualifications include being 20 years old at the time of application and 21 by Academy graduation, high school graduation or equivalent, or possession of a higher degree, and a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
