Youth Commission
Youth Commission’s from across California have strategically aligned with San Diego in successfully supporting Youth Development and Positive Outcomes by initiating strategies for Economic Success.
The Youth Commission of S.F. advocated for Free Municipal Bond For All Youth(FMFAY) to be budgeted as a resolution pertaining to Fare Evasions. -FMFAY was considered in the Preliminary Budget of Priorities. -A 1-Year pilot Program for FMFAY was funded.
FMFAY Funding was extended until 2024.
The Fresno Youth Commission advocated for the improvement in employment opportunities for youth. -The City Council allocated $300,000 for youth jobs in the city of Fresno for the 2020 fiscal year.
The Youth Commission successfully advocated for the Zero Fare Clean Air Act
The Sacramento Youth Commission was granted funding by the city for the RydeFreeRT -This provided youth from TK-12th Grade with access to free transportation on a monthly basis
Homelessness Requires a Solution, Not a “Bandage”
- Youth successfully advocated for progression on action in regards to aiding homelessness.
Youth lead Healing Circles at school
- Youth lead Healing Circles are lead to foster emotional wellness and support to youth.
Madera Youth advocate for Mental Health Excused Absences
- The goal is to destigmatize Mental Health within the School district.
The Madera Youth Commission successfully launched educational cooking classes
- The Youth Commission began a series of educational classes to explore cultural background, historical and geographical relationships to food.
Youth Participate in Grassroots Womxn Rising Committee
- “Building Healthy Communities” in affiliation with the California Endowment’s Health Equity Campaign
