Fee Schedule for Fire Permit Fees

I. When Fees are Paid

The fees associated with Fire Permits may be collected at various stages in the permitting process, including project submittal, during review, at permit issuance and during inspection. Enhanced or optional services may also incur fees. The following sections of this fee bulletin describe what fees are collected and when they are required. 

II. Submittal Fees 

1. Plan Check Fees   
   • For Projects with Plans
     A minimum one-hour plan check fee will be assessed at the time of submittal. During the review, the fee will be updated based on the scope of work in accordance with Fee Tables 506A and 506B. 
   • For Affidavit Projects
     The appropriate plan check fee will be assessed at the time of submittal in accordance with Fee Tables 506A and 506B. 

2. Mapping Fee 
   This fee is collected to fund automation efforts and online GIS data and mapping for Development Services. It is charged when plans, drawings, maps or other geographical documents are utilized for project review.

III. Inspection Fees

Fee Tables 506A and 506B list the inspection fees which are due at the time of permit issuance. Fee amounts are determined during plan review based on information contained in the plans.

IV. Enhanced Optional Services 

1. Express Plan Check Fees
   When available, a reduced review period can be accomplished by paying an Express Plan Check Administrative Fee of $740.28 plus 1.5 times the regular plan check fee (or 1.5 times the hourly rate, when applicable). Refer to Information Bulletin 700 for additional information on the optional Express Plan Check Service
2. Enhanced Inspection Services
   See Information Bulletin 120, How to Obtain Project Inspections.

V. Construction Changes 

Changes to approved plans (after permit issuance) must be reviewed. A non-refundable hourly plan check fee will be assessed at the time of project set-up, one fee per required review discipline, and must be paid prior to review.  Refer to Table 506B-Additional Fees below.

*High-Rise is any building with an occupied floor more than 75 feet above the lowest Fire Department Vehicle access level. 

The fees listed in Table 506B below are in addition to those listed in Table 506A. They will be added to applicable projects during the plan review process.
