Bronze sculpture by Mary Buckman, 'The Reading Girl' at the Carmel Valley Library. Dedicated in 1993, it portrays a young girl reading a book while sitting cross-legged on top of a stack of large books. Mary Buckman is a world-renowned sculptor and fine artist in San Diego. Her sculptures can be seen in many places around San Diego, including her lifesize bronze statue of Governor Pete Wilson at Horton Plaza.
