The original First National Bank, 904 Fifth Avenue, at the northwest corner of Fifth and E. Originally built in 1884 as a one-story building for the bank, it became the Coronado Beach Company in 1886 when hotel founders Elisha Babcock and Hampton Story created the company to support the development of Coronado. Two stories were added in the 1880's. It was later demolished. The photo was taken by Herve Friend for Douglas Gunn's 1887 book 'Picturesque San Diego'.
