A Beautiful Summer Day in The Neighborhood

Say goodbye to May Gray and June Gloom, because it is officially summer in San Diego! With more residents out and about, and more visitors in town than last summer, we expect to see an increase in Get It Done reports in the coming months. Check out the following helpful tips for any reports you may submit this summer.

Tip 1: Find out what reports have already been submitted in your neighborhood

Do you notice some graffiti or a sidewalk that needs repair while you’re out walking your dog each morning? Have you been meaning to submit a request to fix the issue – but just haven’t found the time? The new app makes it easy to see what reports have been submitted in your community. Just click the menu button on the top left corner of your mobile app and select “Recently Opened” or “Recently Closed” to check out reports near you.

To change your location, simply tap the three yellow dots on the bottom right corner of your screen to update your current location or jump to a specific address. You can also navigate around the map with two fingers, then hit “Search again in this area” at the top of your screen to refresh the search.

You can also check out a report map. In response to feedback, we’re planning to add additional map filters to make the reports easier to navigate.

Tip 2: Close a report that no longer needs attention

Closing reports that are no longer relevant helps our team save time and resources. Options to close your report are available for both parking and encampment reports. Within your report confirmation email from Get It Done, there is a link near the bottom to “Close your report” – please click the link and confirm your closure request.

If your confirmation email does not include an option to close the report, please just reply to the email and request that your report be closed. On behalf of the City’s teams who get it done each and every day, thank you for closing your report that no longer needs our attention!

Tip 3: Find out about how long your report type may take to close

Response times for reports vary from a couple days to a couple months. Check out some estimated timeframes. We are always working to reduce the amount of time it takes to resolve reports, and – later this year – we will launch a real-time, public dashboard to help visualize data and provide our Get It Done users more insight on how long it will take for their issue to be fixed.

Thanks for helping us help Get It Done in our communities this summer. Have fun and stay safe!
